A fit and well proportioned body is often considered a symbol of health and vitality
Is Liposuction right for me?
Liposuction is a surgical procedure that removes deposits of fat from specific areas of the body. Liposuction may be used to slim the hips and thighs, flatten the abdomen, shape the calves and ankles or eliminate a double chin. Remember, however, that liposuction is not a substitute for exercise or weight loss.
What happens during a Liposuction Procedure?
To perform liposuction, one or more small incisions are made near the area to be suctioned. Whenever possible, incisions are placed within the natural folds or contour lines so that they are inconspicuous. Dr. McKeown then places a slim, hollow tube, called a cannula, through the incision and moves it back and forth through the fat, which is then vacuumed into the tube. There are several variations to the basic liposuction technique. The fat-removal technique that best meets your needs depends on a number of individual factors which Dr. McKeown will discuss with you at a private consultation.
What results should I anticipate?
Liposuction should give you the reduction of localized fat deposits which can improve your body contours and proportion. If followed by a healthy diet and exercise your new contours and enhanced self-image should continue to develop.
What can I expect post-surgery?
Following surgery, a snug-fitting, girdle-like garment is placed on the treated areas to reduce swelling and encourage a smoother contour. For several days following the procedure, you may have some soreness, but this is very well controlled with the prescriptions provided. Whether a small amount of liposuction was done or multiple areas, you will be encouraged to get out of bed very shortly after the surgery. You will notice a difference in the shape of your body soon after surgery, but improvement will become most apparent after a couple of months
